Welcome to Keyokuk Kennels

Keyokuk Kennels, is  home to champion working, and show, Alaskan Malamutes.  We have enjoyed 27 years of learning, about and from, our Malamutes.  Our kennel is first and foremost a working kennel both for those wanting to show, or just wanting a pet for the home.  Most of our dogs have working titles; however, we also enjoy the AKC/UKC conformation rings.

How We Began
Keyokuk Kennels was founded in 1969 when my husband and I purchased our first ALASKAN MALAMUTE, Bandit. He became CH. Bandit of Keyokuk CD-WPD-WWPD-WTD-WLD. He was a large seal and white male, very athletic, with a strong desire to please. We also purchased a beautiful sable and white female Crystal. She became CH WESTWINDS CRYSTAL OF KEYOKUK CD-WTD. She was an exceptional addition to our kennel.

A True Working Class Dog
We soon fell in love with the breed as we dove into HIKING, BACKPACKING, CAMPING, SLEDDING, WEIGHTPULLING, AKC CONFORMATION AND OBEDIANCE. Our Mals did it all! Our commitment was to try to build upon the foundations of what a Malamute was bred to be!

We knew as we worked and showed our dogs that it was important to produce an exceptional dog with loving temperament, strong, sound conformation, athletic ability, intelligence and a willingness to please. Most importantly, all of this needed to be validated by working them!

Litter Availability
We normally have 1-2 litters a year. All of our dogs have GOOD to EXCELLENT OFA hip ratings. Eyes are certified by Dr. S.A. Dugan, an eye specialist for animals, the results are then sent to CERF for their certification. The CHD Ratings are no more then 1.5. If you’re looking for a quality Malamute, these are a necessity!

We have a line of Malamutes that can, not only work, but show great style and beauty while doing it.  Through it all, their devotion and love for our family has always shown through.
